Scourge of The Charts! Vol 1

Somebody get me some tissue, and a good album. Why? Because I just looked at the iTunes chart (UK), it made me cry and feel like drowning myself. Here’s the top ten in all it’s… glory?
1. Cheryl Cole – Fight For This Love
2. Alexandra Burke (Fitting name) – Bad Boys
3. Chipmunk – Oopsy Daisy
4. Whitney Houston – Million Dollar Bill
5. Robbie Williams – Bodies
6. Jay-Z - Empire State Of Mind
7. Black Eyed Peas – I Got A Feeling
8. Young Soul Rebels – I Got Soul
9. Michael BublĂ© – Haven’t Met You Yet
10. Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart
So what’s the deal people? Why have you done this? Why have you allowed yourselves to download these songs?

Six musicians on that list are either directly or indirectly related to the X factor. Does that explain why they’re in the charts? Of course it bloody does.

Okay, my focus for the day:
Robbie Williams. Robbie Williams. Robert Williamson. ROBBIE WILLIAMS!?! No matter how many variations of his name I type, he persists as a thorn directly in my side; continuously jabbing for my attention, but I never looked round in the first place and I’m not about to start now.

Is this guy still around? I thought he had a mental breakdown and started chasing aliens? He did? He still does? Did the aliens probe any talent into him? No? Shame… Okay Bodies, where can I start? I suppose I could start by listening to it, but I feel like I don’t need to. Robbie Williams never had any talent, he wasn’t even talented while in Take That. Take That weren’t even talented. Someone wrote all their songs for them and now two people help Robbie write his. You’d think in his 12 years as a solo artist he’d have grown some fucking talent. Everyone I’ve spoken to about Robbie’s recent emergence from the mothership has said that they won’t pay any attention to him, obviously this is a small majority because people are still buying his records and listening to him whine and strain over the songs like a Martian being stomped on by a man in lead diving boots.

With all the shit in the charts I wish I could return to a time when the X factor wasn’t around to tell us what “good” music is and when artistic talent reigned over commercialism. Unfortunately I can’t return to those times because they never existed.
